ARE YOU FORTY AND ABOVE?
Let your meals contains: 1.Beans,
2.Fresh Tomatoes,
3. Olive oil for cooking, it is better you go for 'Extra Virgin Olive Oil than the Pomace Olive oil. Why?
Because:
Olive oil is the only vegetable oil that can be consumed freshly pressed from the fruit. Varying levels of quality of olive oil are available for purchase, this quality being reflected in the price. Olive oil is extracted by pressing or crushing olives.
.The extent and level of processing involved dictates the type and quality of oil produced. Considered most superior, due to the minimal processing involved in its preparation and its retained natural state is Extra Virgin Olive Oil which is derived from the first pressing of the olives. Next is Virgin Olive Oil from the second stage of processing. Pure Olive Oil has undergone still further processing in the form of filtering or refining.
The solid material that remains after the extraction of the oil is called pomace, and it contains residual oil. Some manufacturers will use steam, hexane, or other solvents to extract more oil, although this is considered low-quality and must be labelled as pomace oil.
.Olive Oil is said to be particularly beneficial to health due to its high content of mono-unsaturated fatty acids and anti-oxidant properties. Research has shown that regular consumption of olive oil has a positive impact on preventing heart disease by lowering LDL cholesterol levels in the body and raising HDL cholesterol levels. Unsurprisingly, due to low levels of processing used in its manufacture, Extra Virgin Olive Oil is said to offer the greatest levels of anti-oxidant protection, in the form of Vitamin E and phenols. In addition, studies indicate that regular consumption has also been linked to protection against various diseases of the stomach including colon cancer.
.In order for Olive Oil to offer optimum benefits and protection as part of a regular consumption pattern, it is important that it be stored in suitable conditions. Containers should be tightly sealed as exposure to oxygen promotes rancidity and kept in a cool, dark place as light and heat damage can reduce the effectiveness of the oil in our diet.
